I apologize for my unannounced absence from the blogosphere. It was semi-planned and semi-not. I've had a lot of massive changes in my life, and writing for the blog has kind of shunted to the side (unfortunately so) in the meantime.
The biggest change is that I have moved! I now live in Chicago, IL, and have a new job! I am writing and producing for Spotlight Radio, a division of ReFrame Media, which is a division of Back to God Ministries International, which is a division of the Christian Reformed Church of North America.
Whew, that's a mouthful.
And I know, I know, it sounds weird for me to say that I get my paycheck from the CRC, but though I disagree with much of Reformed theology (Rachel Held Evans' various blogs about Calvinism sum things up pretty well for me, so I won't rehash), I believe in the big-umbrella, big C "Church" that includes all of us who claim Christ, even those who disagree.*
I'm settling in well, having just finished my first week of work at ReFrame. I've had to do a lot of mental adjusting to get used to driving in Chicagoland traffic - it seems everyone drives at least 5 or more miles per hour over the speed limit, which is terrifying and fun at the same time. I've already seen a semi truck hit a car, so needless to say, it's an adventure! And I finally have internet in my apartment, so no more do I have to go to Starbuck's (ick) to Skype with my boyfriend back home.
Of course, the blog now contains the usual warnings: I say nothing on behalf of my employers, and the opinions expressed here are solely my own. This is especially the case when I discuss Reformed theology.
There are a few changes I'll be making in the next few weeks - I've got some post ideas percolating and I should (hopefully) have a new post up for you on Monday. Until then, thanks much for holding tight!
*And it's not like, in the south side of Chicago, I'm exactly in a bed of hyper-conservatism (the church Obama attended is just a few blocks to the Northwest of me).
